Why Joe Bidens Claim of Progressivism Misses the Mark
Why Joe Biden's Claim of 'Progressivism' Misses the Mark
Joe Biden's recent claim to the title of 'progressive' has drawn a lot of skepticism from both supporters and critics. My suspicion is that Biden's stance on politics revolves almost entirely around what is most beneficial for his political career and personal wealth. While he can be fluent in reading teleprompters, his personal beliefs and convictions are of little significance as he is ultimately a mere puppet in the hands of those deciding his political and economic interests.
One might surmise that no one has formally told Biden he's a 'communist,' 'leftist,' or any political ideology. This ignorance is quite typical for many leftists, who often lack a clear understanding of the differences and implications of the various political labels they use.
For a long time, the Democratic Party has been trying to attract more conservative voters. This strategy involved avoiding the appearance of being 'too progressive.' However, this approach did not yield the desired results. Why would a conservative voter choose a mildly conservative Democrat over a candidate that genuinely opposes progress? As younger, truly progressive voters began joining the party and supporting candidates like Bernie Sanders, it became apparent that aligning more closely with the progressive faction of the party could lead to more significant achievements and electoral victories.
Many of us, like myself, became Democrats so we could support Bernie Sanders in the primary. While I was disappointed by his failure to win the nomination, I felt uplifted when Joe Biden began engaging with and listening to progressive members of the party. The Democratic Party actually was committed to doing its job and moving the country forward, making the United States of America a better version of itself it had ever been before.
It is important to recognize that if we continue to do what we've been doing for the past 200 years, we would be moving backward. Continuous improvement is essential for creating a better nation. But it is evident that Biden's claim to being a 'progressive' does not align with these principles. For some of us, it is clear that his political stance is more aligned with being a liberal Democrat, as are the majority of Democrats.
The question remains: Does Joe Biden truly believe he is progressive?
To some of us, the answer is unequivocal. Joe Biden's 'progressivism' is more an act than a genuine state of belief. His 'progressive' claims might be a convenient facade to appeal to a certain voter base, but it does not reflect the core values and actions that true progressivism demands.
While it's natural to question why people believe certain things, my stance is clear: Joe Biden's 'progressivism' is more of a political expedient than a genuine personal belief. His actions and the policies he supports often contradict the ideals of progressivism, leading many to wonder if he truly believes in the values he espouses.
Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the American people to stay informed and engage critically with the political figures they support. Only then can we ensure that the country progresses in a meaningful and sustainable manner.
