Why Did I Leave LT: Unveiling the Truth Behind the Dream Company

I shared my experience working at LT from 2004 to 2014, revealing why I decided to leave despite the initial misconceptions. LT once celebrated the passionate contributions of many hardworking and dedicated employees. However, a decade later, unethical practices prevailed as the top management prioritized profits over ethical standards. The famous phrase "imagineering" lost its meaning, and the culture became barely tolerable. My decision to leave wasn't based on one issue but a combination of multiple factors, including excessive working hours, poor management, and a hostile work environment.

Legendary Turn in LT

Unlike the commonly held belief that LT was a wonderful company with a great work culture and ethical standards, the reality for many employees was quite different. LT was built on the hard work and dedication of so many people who poured their blood, sweat, and tears into the company. However, the past 10 years have seen a significant shift.

The current top management has disregarded ethics and prioritized financial gain. They are prepared to compromise anything for profit, making the famous phrase "imagineering" practically meaningless. Now, they focus solely on making money and enriching themselves, often at the expense of their employees. This has led to a culture where employees are threatened to leave or face unfavorable conditions, and superior positions are filled with friends and relatives rather than based on talent.

My Departure From LT

My departure from LT occurred less than three months after joining, driven by multiple reasons. One of the primary issues was the unreasonable workload, with employees often working 12 to 15 hours a day. There were no holidays, not even on Sundays or national holidays, making the work culture one of the harshest and most inhumane.

The management, in some cases, made employees feel like they were second-class citizens. This led to a situation where sycophancy and favoritism became rampant among employees. Even when someone was ill, they were interrogated about their leave, making them feel as if they had committed a crime. Working at LT felt like an endless cycle of work, eat, sleep, and repeat, focusing solely on financial gain.

The Dilemma and Realization

Over time, the company's demands changed. Salaries increased, but life outside of LT seemed less appealing, especially if it wasn't located near one's hometown. Some employees, however, had their dreams from the start. There were also those like myself, who realized their aspirations only after joining the company.

Upon self-realization, one can experience an epiphany, especially after 11 months of training. Undergraduates often look up to top multinational corporations (MNCs) and their work culture, only to be disappointed. The working culture at LT, in particular, can be a shock to the system. Officers, technicians, and managers all exhibit cheap behavior and prejudices that are deeply disappointing.

The grueling working hours force employees to adapt their lifestyles, often sacrificing personal and social life. Dreams and expectations gradually fade, leaving a bleak future that seems difficult to envision. Monotonous work and the extensive effort required can make one question if they are truly an engineer or a mere event manager, manipulated by selfish and controlling bosses. The only thing that remains is a significant financial reward, which loses its charm over time. Realization of life beyond money sets in, leading one to wonder if this is truly the path they want to follow and whether it might be time to explore alternative career options.

Final Thoughts

This experience is not meant to criticize the company; in fact, LT offers numerous opportunities for advancement and challenging roles. If you are willing to work hard and competition is not a concern, then LT will not disappoint. Ultimately, the decision is yours, but it is a subjective one based on individual circumstances and personal values.
