However, this has not been as effective as hoped, with new shot administration rates actually falling slightly.

Overall, the United States has handled the vaccine distribution surprisingly well, especially considering the lack of a national public health system. The initial fits and starts have given way to a streamlined process that ensures a surplus of vaccines and even supports international distribution.
