The Quora Experience: A Journey Through Banishments, Deletions, and Upholding Integrity

Have you ever been banned from Quora, or faced edits or deletions?

Never been banned… never been edit-blocked… but I have had a handful of violation notices since I started here in 2010. Typically, these were due to someone not liking my answers, not because they were nasty!

A Not-So-Common Incident

Yes, I had an experience that stands out: on Thanksgiving Day, I received a notification saying that Quora moderation had banned me. Of course, I was shocked. You see, I didn’t think I’d done anything substantial enough to warrant such a punishment.
I delved into my email to find out more. The notification read, 'Quora moderation banned you from Quora.' Clearly, I was confused. Why would they ban me for something, I didn’t even think I did anything wrong.

It turned out, I was apparently banned for spam. Truth be told, I’ve never spam before. So, I sent a notification to Quora just to clarify. I had to ensure the situation was handled and to prevent any mix-ups.

Thankfully, things were quickly resolved, and I was unbanned. It’s good to be back!

May the Force be with you all!

Maintaining Netiquette: A Personal Perspective

No, I have never been banned from Quora, and I would rather not be. Losing privileges and losing friends on the internet can be quite depressing. That’s why I always strive to be as nice and respectful as possible in my comments, answers, and posts.

It’s not easy to be challenged, and I hate double negatives. Those pompous individuals who use them only annoy me. Let’s get back on topic. I have never been banned, and not just because I don’t post idiotic questions or spread lies. I ensure that my posts are factual, even without referencing them explicitly. I focus on attacking points, ideology, claims and assertions, but not the person.

Battles and Bans

No, not in these 8, 9, or 10 years of my contributions, and I occasionally write some sharp opinions. I feel more at ease when I can critique points, ideology, claims, and assertions. I block individuals if I believe the person is the issue, on an almost weekly basis.

Engaging in healthy debates and maintaining integrity on Quora is a challenge, but it’s a journey I’m proud to be on. Whether it’s sharing knowledge, correcting misinformation, or engaging in respectful discourse, the platform presents a unique opportunity to connect with a diverse range of perspectives. From my experience, maintaining a balance between assertiveness and respect is key.

Key Takeaways:

Stay respectful in your interactions to avoid unwanted bans. Ensure that your posts are accurate and based on facts. Use Quora as a platform for constructive dialogue and knowledge exchange.
