Ranking of Star Wars and Marvel Shows of 2021: From Worst to Best

Great question…... Just kidding. I will go for worst to best. This ranking is purely based on my personal preferences, and you can like or hate any of these shows. I will try not to spoil any of the storylines too badly, so let's dive into the reviews.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Now, I'm going to be honest. I don't like this show. In my opinion, it's easily the weakest MCU show that has come out so far. That's not to say that it's bad, but it certainly isn't as engaging as other entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I especially dislike how it characterizes Sam and Bucky. For instance, Sam doesn't want to kill the Flagsmashers. This is fine if a hero has a code of not killing. However, if he’s merely waiting for his allies to fall back, it can make for good storytelling. But in this case, it feels like a missed opportunity.

The Bad Batch

This show followed a group of clones after Order 66, and it was just okay. It didn't really do anything special. I don't dislike it, but it was just mediocre. I did like Crosshair. He's a brutal and intimidating threat for the team. The main reason he is such an interesting villain is because of the reveal that he was with the Empire by his own choice. He doesn't see anything wrong with what he's doing, and it makes his actions in the series that much worse. However, I wish they would have expanded on it more. The show had some stale villains that could have been much more entertaining if fleshed out further.

Star Wars Visions

A very mixed bag as far as a show went. I really enjoyed some episodes, but other episodes were less so. It just basically had some episodes that weren't made for me, unfortunately. But the audience they were targeting enjoyed it. The show featured a unique blend of original content with well-known Star Wars characters. It's a great example of how animation can breathe new life into beloved properties.

What If…?

Now, this show has one of the best animation styles of anything I have ever seen. It's just that some episodes were boring or rushed. But when the show is at its best, it was incredible. The animation quality is top-notch, and the creativity in storytelling is unmatched. Just look at this! The visual effects and creative storytelling make 'What If…?' a standout show, especially given how much we love a good “what if” scenario.

Hawkeye

Decent show, but it kinda loses its footing at the end. But the show had great writing. Most of the time, it really made us care about Hawkeye getting home to his family. They also did a good job of introducing Kate Bishop as his successor. It's a nice show that delves into the familial and personal side of Clint Barton. However, it's not without its flaws, and the final episodes feel a bit disjointed.

WandaVision

Not a bad show by any means. Definitely one of the most unique shows that I have seen last year. I like that they tried to do something different. But the show really lost me in the last two episodes. No, before you ask, it's not because all our theories were wrong. The last two episodes just have a complete tone shift that's almost jarring. The show's beginning is so charming and engaging, but the later parts feel like a complete departure from what we expected.

Invincible

Now, this show can be best defined in one word: “shocking.” This show had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This show is very brutal but they use the characters and their powers very well. I highly suggest you watch this show. Although it's not perfect in some parts, the animation quality is first-rate, and some character choices make perfect sense. The show's ending is much better than the beginning, and it definitely leaves a lasting impression.

Arcane

All the shows here, including Invincible, and above, I have no major problems with them or their story. My only problem is Overwatch, where is your show!!!!!""All jokes aside, this is a show with great characters, amazing visuals, and a great voice cast. The storyline is gripping and unique, and the animation is top-notch. It’s a thrilling ride, and it's worth checking out for anyone who loves a good narrative-driven story.

Loki

Now, I'm going to be honest. I had very low expectations when I heard there was going to be a Loki show. Not to spoil it too much, but I really enjoyed this show, especially the ending. It was unique but still impactful. Loki's journey through time was a creative and engaging story, and the show's visual effects and character development were impressive.

I truly believe that the ranking of these shows is subjective and based on personal preferences. What works for one person might not work for another. But these are the shows that, for me, stood out in 2021. I hope this ranking provides some insight into the depth and diversity of storytelling in the Star Wars and Marvel universes.
