Overcoming Mental Urges: A Journey of Self-Reflection and Habit Change
As an individual from Asia, I have many strong mental urges that drive me to achieve certain goals, but unfortunately, I have encountered challenges that make my dreams seem unattainable. My story is one of self-reflection and the continuous search for ways to overcome these internal battles.
Unwaivering Dreams and the Reality of Failure
I have always harbored a dream to visit western nations like the USA, Canada, and Europe. The fascination with the culture and women of these countries has been a constant urge throughout my life. Although my parents have done their best to support me, my academic and professional setbacks have made achieving these dreams feel more elusive than ever before. With each day, my frustrations grow, and I find myself struggling to keep my goals within reach. At times, I feel overwhelmed by these urges, and even my ability to sleep is disrupted by these constant thoughts.
My life has taken a difficult turn. Having dropped out of college, I am now faced with the reality of living as a non-supportive environment. The weight of this situation often leaves me feeling like giving up. I am envious of those who have managed to overcome similar obstacles and make their dreams a reality. However, I must keep pushing through, as only I can determine whether I will achieve my aspirations or succumb to the pressures.
Self-Reflection and Seeking Solutions
One of my strongest urges has been my mobile phone addiction. I use an app that monitors my screen time and helps me limit the usage, which has been incredibly useful. Mental urges, in my experience, can be alleviated by first acknowledging that they exist and then finding alternative ways to engage with the world. Distracting myself by spending time in nature, with friends and family, or through other hobbies can help me regain a sense of balance.
Instead of dwelling on my failures and the things I cannot control, I have learned to focus on what can be changed. I have taken steps to improve my situation, such as setting small, achievable goals and seeking support when needed. Self-reflection has been an essential tool in my journey, helping me to understand the root causes of my urges and find healthier ways to cope.
Choosing to Thrive Over Surviving
Throughout this challenging period, I have come to realize that the key to overcoming my mental urges is not to become a victim of my circumstances, but to thrive in the face of adversity. Each day offers an opportunity to make positive changes and work towards my dreams. By reframing my mindset and taking proactive steps, I can regain my sense of purpose and hope.
Life is a continuous journey, and I am determined to continue striving for my goals. While it may seem like an impossible dream now, with perseverance and a willingness to adapt, I believe that better days are ahead. Cheers, and may this journey be one of self-discovery, resilience, and eventual triumph.
