The Online PF Withdrawal Request Status Shows ‘Claim Settled’ but No Funds Received: What Should You Do?

Often, online PF withdrawal requests are marked as 'Claim Settled,' but the funds do not reach the designated bank account. This article provides a comprehensive guide on the possible reasons and steps to resolve this issue.

Understanding Common Delays

Typically, the amount is credited within three days after settlement. However, if the funds are not credited, there may be several reasons, such as mismatched IFSC codes or member names, or incorrect bank account numbers. In such cases, the amount is returned to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

Pre-Visit Verification and Precautions

Verification of Bank Passbook:

Before visiting the EPFO office, ensure you have the latest bank passbook details. This will be useful to check any discrepancies.

Visit EPFO Office with Bank Statement:

Always take your linked bank statement to the EPFO office. This can help you trace the transaction and identify any issues immediately.

Steps to Resolve PF Withdrawal Issues

1. Wait for a Couple of Days

In most cases, it takes 2-3 days for the amount to be transferred to your bank account after claim settlement. If you do not receive the funds within this period, wait for a couple of additional days. Sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances such as bank holidays, the transfer may be delayed.

2. Verify Bank Account Details

Check if the Bank Account Details are Correct:

Ensure that the bank account details provided during the PF withdrawal request are correct and active. Any error in the details might result in the funds not being credited to your account.

Verify NEFT Transfer Schedule:

Check the NEFT transfer schedule to see if the transfer was affected by bank holidays. If the transfer is scheduled on a holiday, you will need to wait for the next working day for the funds to be credited.

3. Update Bank Details

Update Your UAN Bank Details:

Please check your bank details updated with your Universal Account Number (UAN) via the UAN member portal. If you find any discrepancies or incorrect information, update the details immediately. Submit a reauthorization letter to the Regional EPFO office offline along with the correct bank details and a canceled cheque leaf. This process can take around 10-15 days. After submitting the reauthorization letter, the EPF amount will be credited to the correct bank account.

4. Complain to EPFO Grievance Cell

If you have followed the above steps and still have not received the funds, you can lodge a complaint with the EPFO Grievance Cell online. Use the online grievance platform if you have a UAN number to lodge the complaint and track its status. The resolution timeline for such grievances is typically 30 days.
