Navigating Aadhar Update Requests and Address Changes
If you have received a message stating that your Aadhar update request is in progress, follow these steps to stay informed and ensure a smooth process:
Waiting for Notification
The message indicates that you will receive an SMS notification once your request has been processed. While the waiting period can be frustrating, it is important to be patient. The processing time can vary, but it is generally within a few days to a couple of weeks.
Checking Status Online
To keep track of your Aadhar update request, you can check the status on the official UIDAI Unique Identification Authority of India website. Use your Aadhar number or the Update Request Number (URN) provided during the update process to check your request's status.
Contacting Support
If you do not receive an update within a reasonable timeframe, which is usually a few days to a couple of weeks, consider contacting UIDAI customer support. You can reach them via their helpline number or through the online grievance redressal system. If your request is pending for a longer period, such as 8 months, you may need to contact support directly.
Ensuring Document Readiness
Ensure that you have all the necessary documents ready. If your update request is rejected or requires further action, you will need to make corrections or resubmit the request. Having your documents in order can expedite the process.
Staying Cautious of Scams
Be cautious of scams or misinformation. Only communicate through official channels to avoid pitfalls. Ensure that any communication is through the officially recognized platforms and sources.
Handling Duplicate Address Update Requests
If you receive a message like 'Duplicate update request! An address update request is already under progress,' it means that the address update request is still in the processing phase. You can only raise a fresh update request after the current one is completed.
Funny enough, sometimes you might receive an address update request through the mAadhaar mobile app. In such cases, you can log in to the app and go to the 'Requests' tab to see the address update request. If the delete option is not available, you can call the customer care number 1947 and provide them with the URN number given in the Address Update Request to get the request cancelled.
Remember, the Aadhaar card will be updated and then delivered to the address mentioned in your Aadhaar card through postal service.
By following these steps, you should be able to stay informed and take appropriate actions to resolve any pending Aadhar update requests and address changes.
