Observing public transportation can often provide a glimpse into the current trends regarding technology usage among children. In my personal experience, it is rare to find a child who is not using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. This trend has been on the rise as technology becomes more integrated into daily life.

Best Apps for Young Children

One of the best apps I have seen for young children is ABCmouse. This app did more to help my 3-year-old learn to read than school or his parents could have done on our own. While reading and parental assistance are vital, a tool like ABCmouse can provide a child with the control and engagement they need to make learning more interactive and enjoyable.

Technology in Our Home

In my family, technology has evolved with time. Our first desktop computer was around 1995-96, and as we lived in a rural area, we weren't always connected online. Our oldest children got their first cell phones as teenagers, but they weren't smartphones. I got my first tablet when my kids were already adults, and my daughter had her first one at around 20. My younger son just received one recently.
