How to Reset a WPS Disabled WiFi Router

Resetting a WPS disabled WiFi router can be done through a factory reset. This process will clear all custom settings and revert the router to its default factory state. Follow the steps provided below to successfully reset your WiFi router.

Steps to Reset Your Router

Locate the Reset Button

Find the reset button on the router. It is usually a small recessed button, located on the back or bottom of the device.

Prepare a Tool

Use a paperclip pin or any similar tool to press the reset button.

Power On the Router

Ensure the router is plugged in and powered on.

Press and Hold the Reset Button

Press and hold the reset button for about 10-15 seconds. You may need to hold it until you see the router's lights blink or change, indicating that the reset process has started.

Release the Button

After holding the button for the required time, release it. The router will restart and all settings will revert to factory defaults.

Reconfigure the Router

Once the router has reset, log in to the router's admin interface using the default credentials. Usually, these can be found on the router or in the user manual. Reconfigure your WiFi network name (SSID), password, and any other settings as needed.

Important Notes

Data Loss

A factory reset will erase all custom settings, including your WiFi password, network name, and any other configurations. Ensure you back up your current settings before proceeding with the reset.

Backup Settings

If possible, backup your current settings to avoid losing important configurations.

WPS Settings

After resetting, you may need to re-enable or configure WPS in the router settings if you want to use that feature again. WPS makes it easier for devices to connect to the router without knowing the SSID and WLAN key/password.

If you encounter issues during the reset process, refer to the router's manual for specific instructions related to your model. Proper documentation and user guides are invaluable resources in troubleshooting and ensuring a successful reset.
