Steps to Update Your Aadhaar Card Details Online

UIDAI, the Unique Identification Authority of India, has made it easier and simpler for individuals to update or correct their Aadhaar card details. Below are the steps to be followed to update or correct your Aadhaar card address, date of birth, name, email ID, and mobile number.

Step 1: Visit the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal

The first step in updating your Aadhaar card details is to visit the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).

Step 2: Click on “Update Address” or Relevant Section

Based on the detail you need to update, click on the relevant section. For address changes, click on “Update Address.”

Step 3: Enter Your 12-Digit Aadhaar Number and Security Code

A new window will open, where you need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the security code (Captcha) and then click on “Send OTP.”

Step 4: Enter OTP

After entering the OTP sent to your registered mobile number, proceed with the update process.

Step 5: Choose the Option to Update/Correct Your Details

Tick the option you want to update, such as the address, date of birth, name, or mobile number.

Step 6: Provide Proof of Address (PoA)

Mention or upload the scanned copy of your proof of address document, such as a utility bill, rental agreement, or passport.

Step 7: Verify Your Address/Details

A Biometric Proof of Address (BPO) service provider will inspect the address details mentioned in the form and match them with the provided PoA. Once verified, the request is passed to UIDAI.

Step 8: Receive Acknowledgement

An acknowledgment slip will be issued with the Update Request Number (URN) which can be used for further queries.

Updating Name in Aadhaar

If you need to correct or modify your name in the Aadhaar card, you need to visit an Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre.

Step 1: Fill the Aadhaar Enrolment/Correction Form

Fill the essential information in the form and provide the correct name.

Step 2: Submit the Form with Proof of Identity (PoI)

Mention your correct name and submit the form with a proof of identity such as a passport, voter ID, or driving license.

Step 3: Receive Acknowledgement Slip

You will receive an acknowledgment slip after the process is completed with a request number for future reference.

Updating Mobile Number in Aadhaar

To change your mobile number in Aadhaar, follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre

Step 2: Fill the Mobile Number Aadhaar Update Form

Mention your current mobile number in the form and submit the Aadhaar update form.

Step 2: Submit the Aadhaar Update Form

Step 3: Provide Biometric Evidence

The authorized utive will take your biometrics as evidence for your identity.

Updating Aadhaar Card Details by Post

For individuals who cannot visit a physical center, UIDAI also allows updating Aadhaar details through post. Here’s how:

Step 1: Download the “Aadhaar Data Update/Correction Form”

Visit the UIDAI portal and download the form.

Step 2: Fill the Required Information

Fill the form with all the required information and attach the needed documents.

Step 3: Send the Form and Documents to UIDAI

Send the completed form and required documents to the nearest Aadhaar enrolment center’s postal address.
