Chandrayaan-2 (2019)

Mangalyaan: Mars Orbiter Mission

Objective: Mangalyaan, or the Mars Orbiter Mission, is India's first interplanetary mission, aimed at exploring Mars' surface, atmosphere, and mineral composition.

Launch and Achievements

Launched in November 2013, Mangalyaan successfully entered Mars orbit in September 2014. Main achievement: Mangalyaan marks India as the first Asian nation and the first nation in the world to successfully reach Mars orbit in its inaugural attempt. Main instrument: A suite of scientific instruments for imaging, methane detection, and surface mapping.
