Eligibility for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) Mathematics and Science Vacancies: A Comprehensive Guide

To be eligible for a Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) position in Mathematics and Science in India, the specific qualifications can vary by state and school board. Generally, the following criteria are considered:

Educational Qualifications

A candidate with a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering ( ECE) and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is not typically eligible for a TGT position in Mathematics and Science. TGT positions usually require a degree in a relevant subject such as Mathematics or Science. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the requirements:

For TGT Mathematics

Typically, a candidate needs a background in Mathematics, often requiring a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics or a closely related field. The candidate must have studied Mathematics in all three years of their graduation. Desirable qualifications may include proficiency in Computer Applications.

For TGT Science

A background in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, or Biology is often necessary. The candidate should have a Bachelors Degree with at least 50 marks in the concerned subject or combination of subjects, and in aggregate.
