Consequences of Leaving Infosys During Your Training Period

Employees often wonder what the repercussions might be if they decide to leave Infosys during their training period. This article aims to outline the various scenarios and potential consequences that one might face.

Legality and Company Policies

At the outset, it is important to understand that legally, you are bound by a service agreement signed before your training begins. However, many people leave Infosys within the training period without encountering significant consequences. The service agreement is a mere mental constraint, designed to prevent legal action rather than bind employees. Nevertheless, the company has the legal right to sue you based on the bond signed.

Consequences of Leaving with Proper Exit Formalities

Case 1: Leaving with Proper Exit Formalities

If you decide to leave with all required exit formalities:

You will need to raise a separation request and allow the system to decide the release date. If you want an immediate release, contact the TRPU unit HR. A bond amount will be required, based on a fixed charge, computer/facilities usage, and other costs. The exact calculation is detailed in the service bond. After paying the amount, surrender your ID card, and you can quit your training. If you complete the training and quit immediately after the production unit allocation, you will receive a training certificate. You can reapply for Infosys after a few years as a trainee through an off-campus drive or as a lateral employee with some work experience. The door is always open.

Case 2: Leaving Without Proper Exit Formalities

If you just inform the unit HR without completing the exit formalities:

You will receive repeated communications from Infosys until you complete the exit formalities. If you fail to complete them, you will be blacklisted by the company, making it difficult to join Infosys again in the future. Your NSR details will indicate this to all major Indian IT companies, leading to potential resistance from hiring them. No training certificate will be awarded to you. Infosys can sue you legally, but this is extremely rare due to the large number of employees they would have to litigate against.

Case 3: Leaving Without Notifying Anyone

If you do not inform anyone and go on a vacation to your home and never return:

Infosys will send repeated communications and, if ignored, your candidacy will be terminated. The consequences will be similar to those in Case 2. The unit HR will mark your status as 'unknown.' This is the only significant difference.

It should be noted that leaving due to poor performance or exam results typically incurs no harsh consequences, and you have the option to reapply as a lateral employee after a few years.

Conclusion

The consequences of leaving Infosys during your training period depend largely on the formalities you comply with or bypass. While it is generally safe to leave with the proper exit formalities, leaving without them can result in significant barriers to future employment within the company. Always consider the long-term implications before making such a decision.
