Is the BHIM App Coming to iOS Soon?

Many users have been eagerly waiting for the BHIM app, developed by PM Narendra Modi under the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), to be available on the iOS platform. The good news is that the BHIM app is already available on the App Store, but user experience (UsEx) currently differs from the Android version due to strict security policies enforced by iOS.

Current Availability

If you are a user looking for the BHIM app on iOS, you can now find it on the App Store. Just search for "BHIM NPCI" to find the legitimate app. However, users should be aware that the user experience on iOS is not as seamless as it is on Android. iOS users need to manually send a one-time SMS during the registration process, which can be a minor inconvenience.

User Experience on iOS

The current USEx on iOS is a matter of concern for many users. The requirement to manually send a one-time SMS at the time of registration might not be well-received by customers. It is expected that the development team at NPCI will work on improving the UsEx to make the process as smooth as possible.

Expected Future Developments

There is no specific timeline for when the BHIM app will be fully optimized for iOS. However, the NPCI has mentioned that they are working on bringing the app to iOS. The process involves addressing various security measures and ensuring a similar experience to the Android app. Users should remain patient and keep an eye on the App Store for updates.

Comparison with Other UPI Apps

While the BHIM app is yet to be fully available on iOS, other popular UPI apps, such as PhonePe, have already launched versions for iOS. This leaves users with alternative options for using UPI services on their iPhones. PhonePe, for instance, has faced a similar challenge with its iOS release, even after being available for some time on the Android platform.

Focused Development

Given that the majority (85%) of smartphones are based on the Android platform, the NPCI has prioritized the development and linking of Aadhar payments. This move ensures that a significant portion of the population can benefit from these financial services.

Although the BHIM app is currently not available on iOS, users can still make use of alternate UPI apps such as PhonePe. These apps provide a similar user experience and can meet most of their financial transactions needs until the BHIM app is fully optimized for iOS.
