AaronOS: The Journey of Creating a Custom Web Operating System

What is AaronOS?

AaronOS is a unique web-based operating system created by me, using a combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It also incorporates some PHP for the back-end. This system has evolved over time, starting as a simple project and transforming into a more robust and feature-rich platform.

Development Journey

My journey with AaronOS began after completing the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript courses on Codecademy. Initially, it was a project constrained by the limitations of just three files (HTML, CSS, and JS). After discovering Cloud9 IDE, the development process became easier, allowing me to focus on coding without the hassle of FTP.

As I progressed, I expanded my knowledge and skills. I delved deeper into JavaScript and other languages, including PHP, which I used to develop a rudimentary file system. One of the additional features I added was a messenger, which allowed me and my friends to communicate while using our Chromebooks in class.

AaronOS Beta

Over time, I began to clean up the project and, in the process, created AaronOS Beta. This version included several changes, such as removing unnecessary applications and adding custom icons created by my friend Hasan in the style of his Android icon pack, Nightmare Sphere.

Community Dynamics and Updates

One of the most significant milestones was my decision to start a Discord server to communicate more directly with AaronOS users. I have made many great friends on this platform, who have been instrumental in helping me improve the platform over time. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and supported me.

Despite my increased workload, I am planning to resume active development and updates in the near future. I will soon have a few days off work, and this will be the perfect opportunity to release new updates.

Current Status and Future Plans

AaronOS has since acquired its own dedicated site, providing a more streamlined user experience and better integration with the web browser. Additionally, there is now an official app for AaronOS, available for users to install directly on their desktops and mobile devices. This makes it easier for users to access and customize their AaronOS experience.
